On March 12, 2024, San Francisco Film School hosted a compelling Masterclass with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray, known for his work on The Hunger Games, Captain Phillips, and Richard Jewell.
The session ran from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM PT and offered students and faculty an in-depth look into the craft of screenwriting.
In preparation for the masterclass, attendees were encouraged to view a curated list of classic films—including The Godfather, Jaws, Kramer Vs. Kramer, Pulp Fiction, and Casablanca—to enhance the Q&A portion of the event. The discussion provided valuable insights into story structure, character development, and the evolution of cinematic storytelling, making it a standout session in the SFFS Masterclass Series.
