92% Graduate Job Placement Rate
Since 2010, 92% of graduates from the Digital Filmmaking Programs (AAS Degree & Professional Certificate) have gotten jobs in the entertainment industry. This is an impressive number, and we are very proud of it.
Many people have questions about this job placement rate:
- “How is this percentage calculated?”
- “What kind of jobs are grads getting?”
- “What type of job placement does the school provide?”
We wanted to take the time to answer these questions and explain this important statistic.
How is the 92% calculated?
As a nationally accredited school licensed by the State of California, we are required to report our graduation and job placement rates each year. We poll our graduates on the jobs they obtain within 12 months after graduation. Based on this data, we divide the number of grads working in the entertainment industry by the total number of grads that year. For the last 8 years, this has yielded an average 92% placement rate.
What type of jobs are grads getting?
Our hands-on, project-based curriculum trains students in a wide range of filmmaking skills. Grads work as producers, directors, editors, cinematographers, and writers — often combining these disciplines. Some pursue freelance careers, while others seek the security of full-time employment. Thanks to internet video, on-demand TV, and a healthy film industry, there are many opportunities for both paths.
What type of job placement does the school provide?
The film industry thrives on connections. Our students join a creative community and build relationships throughout their education. Many are referred to jobs during school. All instructors are active professionals, offering students a network of contacts. While job placement isn’t guaranteed, every student meets with our Director of Education to create a personalized career plan tailored to their goals.
The San Francisco Film School is a place where YOU can launch your career in 12 months.
